Built in 1931 and reopened in 1991, it is traditional, stately property. Traditional European styling with art-deco sophistication and breathtaking views of Central Park.
The lobby is large in size with high ceilings, dark wood paneling and marbled floors and pillars. The reception area features a beautiful large glass etched mural of New York City. The seating area is large and in traditional style.
All of the carpeted rooms feature a bathroom with shower and hairdryer, a direct dial telephone, satellite/ cable TV, minibar, Internet access and a hire safe. In addition, rooms are all fitted with air conditioning, and central heating as standard.

There are two restaurants at this property, Alain Ducasse at the Essex House - offers innovative cuisine, an elite selection of great wines and an atmosphere of high style. At Café Botanica you can enjoy contemporary American cuisine highlighted with lush views of Central Park.
